New tickets for the public transportation of Athens.
The plain tickets for the public means of transportation of Athens do no more cost €1! Several changes have been made to the tickets and the unlimited-ride cards prices which have risen. I have prepared a list with the new prices and the ticket type you should buy for each case:
If you are going to use the buses (except for the ones that run to and from the airport as well as those that run to and from Saronida), the trolleybuses or the tram of Athens then you have to buy the ticket that costs € 1.20, which is valid for one route.
If you need a ticket for all the public means of transportation including all the buses, the trolleybuses and the metro until Koropi station(not included a) the buses that run to and from the airport as well as those that run to and from Saronida b) the metro to and from the airport), then you have to buy the € 1.40 ticket which is valid for 90 minutes.
If you wish to travel to and from the airport by bus (1 hour route) you have to buy the ticket that costs € 5 which is valid for one route.
If you wish to travel to and from the airport by the metro (40 minutes route to Syntagma station) then you have to buy a ticket that costs € 8.00 (one way) and if you buy a return ticket then you have to pay € 14. This ticket is valid for the other (all of them) public means of transportation of Athens but only within 90 minutes after validation for the first airport route and another 90 minutes after validation for the second airport route.
Airport metro tickets for two persons cost €14 and for three persons € 20.
There are also:
a) Daily unlimited-ride tickets for all means of public transportation. They cost € 4 and can be used for the buses, the trolleybuses, the tram and the metro until Koropi station(not included a) the buses that run to and from the airport as well as those that run to and from Saronida b) the metro to and from the airport).
b) Weekly unlimited-ride ticket for all means of public transportation. They cost € 14 and can be used for all the public means of transportation including all the buses, the trolleybuses, the tram and the metro until Koropi station(not included a) the buses that run to and from the airport as well as those that run to and from Saronida b) the metro to and from the airport)
c) Monthly unlimited-ride cards
i) for buses (except for the ones that run to and from the airport as well as those that run to and from Saronida), trolleybuses and the tram, costing €20.
ii) for airport routes costing €140.
iii) for all means of transportation costing € 45.
d) annual unlimited-ride cards
i) for buses (except for the ones that run to and from the airport as well as those that run to and from Saronida), trolleybuses and the tram, costing € 200
ii) for all means of transportation costing € 450
The monthly and annual cards need a small id photo and your identity card in order to be purchased.
