Lord Byron´s rock of inspiration


"If I am a poet I owe this to the air of Greece", this phrase was written on a rock right next to the church of Agios Nikolaos Alipradidon, in Lakithra. This was the exact spot that the British philhellenist Lord Byron was inspired some of his great poems while he was sat on a rock gazing at the view of Levatho, the island of Zeus and Zakynthos at the back of the horizon. Maybe all of us could become poets looking at this magnificence...
